Was so excited when I spotted this little one! This Victorian fob features two 9 ct ouroboros snakes on either side, atop a carnelian seal. The ouroboros, or snake eating its own tail has been a sign of eternal renewal and fertility throughout the ages.
The carnelian seal features a classical Greco-Roman portrait of a man. His exact identity is not known, so feel free to dedicate his likeness to your favourite long haired heartthrob - I’m going Luke Wilson in the Royal Tanenbaums on this one!
Material: XRF tested 8ct gold snakes and bale. Frame around seal is cased. Carnelian seal.
Size: Seal face measures 12mm wide x 17mm high. Fob is 22cm tall.
Condition: Good antique condition. Some wear to snakes as commensurate with age.
