A wonderfully chunky beast of a ring and one of the largest intaglio rings I have come across. A carnelian seal depicting a family crest, featuring carvings of three ravens and three scallop shells on the left and wheat sheaves, a crown and a globus cruciger - there’s your trivia phrase of the week - on the right.
The seal is set in lower carat gold (tests as 7/8%) and at some point, it was made into a ring and affixed to a chunky, solid 18ct band.
I love the care taken to design the ring so that it transitions seamlessly into the ring and sits comfortably on the finger. It is big and heavy, but entirely wearable.
The intaglio is in excellent condition with only minor surface scratching, commensurate with very careful wear.
Materials: the seal is set in lower ct gold. The ring is made in 18ct gold.
Size: L/5.5. Can be resized.
Condition: Excellent antique condition
