Culling my personal collection a bit, so this signet is now looking for a good home. I love chunky old animal signets, and is one of the best I have found. I have gone back and forth as to what creature is depicted - the body and head make me think it's a dog, though the tasseled tail could also make it a griffin (or a monkey!) - would love to hear your thoughts! The engraving has worn away in its 100 or so years, giving it a superb patina.

This is a chunky one, weighing in at over 8 grams. The square shape gives heft, without looking out of place on a smaller hand (my ring finger is a J 1/2 to a K (a US 5) for reference). While this would look great as a traditional signet, I love that the shape works well on other fingers - I love it on my ring finger). I cannot overstate how tactile a chunky, well worn old signet is on the finger.

The ring is stamped with an old 14k mark, and I would estimate it to be c. 1930. The shank is in excellent condition and could be resized.
