Bohemian garnet hit peak popularity around 1880. The stones were mined in current day Czechia, and were traditionally cut by farmers in the winter months as an extra source of income. The stones were set close together, often in a lower carat gold called garnet gold.
This sweet cross pendant is a prime example of the work of the time. The stones are bright and juicy and luminous, even in low light.
