Zircon is one of my favourite stones and this c. 1920 ring is case in point. For those of you unfamiliar with zircon, it is a natural gemstone and suffers from a bit of a naming issue, as it unfortunately has a similar sound to entirely unrelated cubic zirconia. Aside from the bad PR, it is a bright, gorgeous stone with tremendous fire and super saturated colours, the blue being my personal favourite.
I love the size and scale of this ring - it’s big and statement-y enough to give the feel off a cocktail ring, but small enough for everyday wear. The stone is set in a decorative 18 carat white gold mount. The graduated sides of the mount blend the stone and the setting nicely, so despite being a sizeable stone, it appears to sit close to the finger - my favourite sort of setting!
Both the stone and the ring have been handled with care over the years and are in excellent condition. Just a bright, beautiful piece.
